If you find eggs or dairy products disgusting, then you’re ready for the totally radical Leda’s Bake Shop on Ventura Boulevard in L.A.’s San Fernando Valley. Under the direction and guidance of vegan baker Kimberly Garr, Leda’s creates a multitude of unique and unforgettable cakes, cupcakes, cookies, scones, and muffins, many without any eggs or dairy products.
While much of Leda’s business is take-out or special orders, many visitors and regulars enjoy their treats with specialty coffees, tea, or juices at tables inside the cozy shop. While they savor a pumpkin, vanilla, or chocolate peanut butter cupcake, they can watch Kimberly in the open kitchen preparing the next batch of an old favorite or experimenting with a new recipe—and maybe even get a taste!
Leda’s only uses nonhydrogenated Earth Balance margarine and shortening, organic soy milk, and organic sugars from Wholesome Sweeteners and Florida Crystals in its vegan baked goods. So if you’re cruising through the Valley and need a tasty treat—or want to order a tray of cupcakes to spell out “I Love You” for your sweetheart—think vegan. Think Leda’s Bake Shop.
